Sonata Paliulytė

Sonata Paliulytė graduated from the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy, specializing in acting. She is a poet,
and a translator from English into Lithuanian. Her work has appeared in the main literary periodicals of Lithuania,
and also abroad. She translated a selection of the Welsh poet Menna Elfyn’s poetry that was published in a bilingual
edition entitled Veiled Kiss in 2005. In 2005 a book of her own poetry, P.S., was also published. For P.S. and Veiled Kiss
she received the prestigious “Young Jotvingis” award for the best book of poetry debut. In 2007, she received the literary
prize “ Menada ” from the International Poetry Festival “Ditet E Naimit” in Macedonia . In 2009, a bilingual Selected Poems
of Emily Dickinson, The Banks of Noon, was published by the Lithuanian Writers Union. A number of her poems appeared
in the bilingual book, “Penki Langai į Sodą”, presented in Hebrew and Lithuanian in 2009 in Jerusalem’s Book Fair.
She currently resides in Vilnius.

Sonata has read at StAnza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival. Still Life is her first collection in English.
The poems are translated by Irena Praitis and Kerry Shawn Keys. It was published in July 2011.
