Time Passing

I feel the cold wind slap my face
more keenly now since Mum's life
is almost skelped to death:

treading steps in careful precision
I stop her slipping from chair
she is slopped in, without wind

biting, air breathing life.
I moment fixtures:   swimming,
kicking, breathing gulps;

striding meanderly round wood walk.
Events minute time she is lost in
and I am keen to exaggerate detail

as if she is hunkered on my shoulders
seeing beyond me, above trees
and looking, musing below

where she has lived sometime,
now sleeping in memories
like a snake shedding skin.
