Japan 2003

We started in Tokyo, then travelled by bullet train to Kyoto.
From Kyoto we visited the ancient capital of Nara, then we
went by train to Takayama in the Japan Alps. An excursion
from Takayama took us to the heritage village in Shirkawa-go,
where we saw the thatched roofs of the traditional houses.
We left by coach for Hakone, stopping at Matsumoto Castle.
From Hakone we visited Owaku-dani, the valley of the
fumaroles. On the next day we visited Mt Fuji, then travelled
on to Kamakura, Yokohama and back to Tokyo.
