Amisfield Preservation Trust

The Amisfield Preservation Trust was formed with the following objectives: to acquire, preserve, repair, restore or maintain, for the benefit of the public at large, land and buildings of particular beauty or historical, architectural or constructional interest in Amisfield Park in East Lothian.

The Trust was responsible for securing Heritage Lottery Funding for the stabilisation of the Summer House. The Trust is now responsible for major fund-raising and is the holder of the lease from the Council under which it operates. It is also responsible for management, membership and promoting awareness of the project amongst the local community. It  actively seeks new members and community support.

Funding from Scottish Enterprise Edinburgh and Lothians (SEEL) was secured to undertake a Historic Survey and Development Plan. This Report, by Peter McGowan Associates, forms the basis for the preservation and further development of the garden and for discussions with East Lothian Council. The report was delivered 2006. In 2008 funding was obtained to undertake a further study which looked into the visitor potential and community use of the garden.

Many of the trees from the original tree nursery were removed in the autumn of 2007.

The foundations of the original paths have been excavated and new paths have been laid.
